Noteflight Audio-to-Notation Import

Page history last edited by Joe Berkovitz 14 years, 4 months ago

Description

Our project is a hack of the Noteflight web-based notation editor to import free-range MP3s on the web into a rough "skeleton" of a musical score, using the EchoNest Remix API to supply a metrical and key signature analysis and some rough notions of pitch and harmony.  The resulting score, when played, follows the score in metrical synchronization with the original audio track.

The score can subsequently be "cleaned up" by changing the time signature of various sections, adding additional staves, transcribing melodies, etc.

How to Try It

- Go to http://hackday.noteflight.com.

- Click "TRY IT NOW" button to bring up the score editor.

- On the "Play" menu, select "Analyze Audio Track..."

- supply this URL, or one of your own:

        http://soundcloud.com/joeberkovitz/richgirl/download

- be very patient as there is no progress display

- use "Score" and "Change Time Signature"... to change the time signature of various selections
