Description
Why MySpace? Because MySpace still has all the artists/bands. If we can come up with a way to make MySpace work for us both as companies and artists/bands, why should we force an artist to leave MySpace and retrain all their fans.
As it is, the direct to fan relationships are hard enough to make. I wanted to create a user friendly MySpace design/template, that supports the new 360 environment. There are so many great tools and services out there, and artists just need a blueprint to know how to utilize them.
Features Include:
1. Page Navigation - Jump right to where you want to get to on the page (ex. Shows, Store, Videos, etc.)
2. All of an artist's revenue streams facilitated by outside services
- Ticket Sales (LiveMusicMachine Widget)
- Bookings/Performance fees (LiveMusicMachine Widget)
- Merchandise (Audiolife)
- Digital & Physical Sales (Audiolife)
3. Analytics & CRM
- Fanbridge - Mailing List Manager
- Soundcloud - Music/Listening Analytics
4. Interactivity & Real-Time Information
-Twitter
-Real-Time Search Feed
-Gigya - To be able to share the actual MySpace Page.
The profile still needs to be stylized to give a unified and glossy look, but the general UI/modules have been implemented.
The idea is that this a boiler plate template, and a wizard will be developed to generate the code. Each section will be a module where the artist will be able to choose which service/tool they want to implement in that module.
Tools, Platforms and APIs Used
SoundCloud
LiveMusicMachine
Gigya
Fanbridge
Twitter
Audiolife
Updates
1. I have created a MySpace app to redirect your music profile to the new hacked profile. This will be posted in V3.0, I'm waiting for MySpace to approve the application.
2. A wizard to create these profiles is currently in development.

Great idea, utilising the fact that everybody is there and making the MySpace environment work for the artist. I'm sure a lot of artists and managers would love this.

I agree! I think it was a great idea that didn't present as well as it could have, because of the tech issues with projecting it in the space. All the bands really are using MySpace, but it really is a terrible interface. If there was a way to pull that data, provide enhancements (for example, the player doesn't work unless you're on a desktop — you can't use it on a smartphone, even), and improve the mobile interface, etc. I hope you keep going with this.
